The physical practices of 9 elements yoga are designed to help us connect with and relate to the qualities and energies that the elements represent. We use movement as well as visualization to enhance our connection with the elements themselves.Utilizing the metaphor of the elements as focal points we cultivate a state of mind, body harmony. Consciously interacting with the elements we connect to the fundamental principles that support life as we know It. We use the classical designation of elements Earth Water Fire and Air. but we also include the elements of Yin and Yang, space, time and the great mystery. These nine elements symbolically allow us to refine our energy and utilize it more effectively in the world around us and within us.
9 elements Yoga teacher training will guide you in the art of laya yoga (using the chakras and elemnts). We blend Qi gong like energy movements with asana practice to bring greater awareness and harmony. We strengthen our connection to life while also creating the oppertunity for transendant realization. Classes are taught live to keep everyone accountable and on track.
This training is designed for yoga teachers but those with a background or history of regular yoga practice may be elidgible. Contact Christopher Love for more details.
Course Outline
Six weeks of online morning yoga is mandatory.
Meeting for 6 hours on 6 consecutive Sundays. We will examine the philosophical foundations of 9 elements, yoga, as well as the class structure and teaching methods.
A successful candidate will have:
Six weeks of online morning yoga
Attend all required classes
Completed the journal assignments, one research assignment
Teach a full class
Pass the final exam.
Typical sunday outline
9- 9:30am Introduction and and review of last week’s material.
9:30- 10:30am One hour nine elements class.
10:30-11:30am yoga philosophy of nine elements yoga.
11:30- 12:30pm lunch break.
12:30 till 2pm Energy work and the elements. Learning the base form for 9 elements yoga. Teach backs- taking what we learn and teaching it back to each other.
2 -3pm breath work and meditation -practice and instruction in pranayama and meditation.
